Basescu defends his "Golden Spritz".
The President sustains that it wasn't wrong that be celebrated Steaua's succes next to Becali , and if he would have been drunk he would ask someone to drive his car." When asked if he regrets that after celebrating and drinking next to Becali , he drove his car home the preseident replied : "I had many many people who could drive me home if I were drunk but I prefered to do it myself. I wouldn't have done it if i was drunk was as you say." " Everybody has the right to be happy" About the feast itself , Basescu says that Everybody has the right to be happy. The joy is not a political one , I was celebrateing together with all the romanian people. " I am on of the 22 milion citizens of Romania . It is not me , the president and the other 22 milion peoples , I'm one of them." All these happened after Basescu refused to come to see the game at the arena . The refuse was due to Becali's declarations at the address of the prime-minister calin Popescu-Tariceanu .
Born George Becali, nicknamed "Gigi", born 25 June 1958) is a controversial politician and businessman, mostly known for being the owner of Steaua football club.
There have been numerous controversies with the violent declarations linked with the Steaua football team, including the use of slurs against the Roma and other minorities by fans and employees of Becali. He also sang in April 2005 a manea which included a racial slur against the Roma.
